Red Dot Restaurant and Bar

  • The Red Dot opened Bastille Day in 1999. There were only a few businesses open on Warren Street including Carrie Haddad’s Art Gallery, The Hudson Opera House, Steiner’s Sports Store and a few others.

Hudson was a lot quieter back then and for a full service restaurant, it was a challenge having no walk ins, no strolling visitors. It was a simple case of word of mouth and from day one we did business.

Over the past years we have hosted and supported a mass of events and parties, fund raisers, halloween celebrations, wedding and birthday parties, New Years Eve celebrations, charity auctions, some political functions, film club projections, the list goes on.

In 2002 we bought the building west of us and renovated the ground floor and garden to expand our dinner service. By 2005, the expansion gave us a dance floor, screening room, private party space and a wonderful garden, plus a seated space for an outdoor fire giving smokers a place to convene.

Our first menu was smaller, with the heart of our cuisine being Belgian frites, mussels, salads, steaks, hamburgers and of course fish and chips which are still on our menu today.

We met Kevin Katz and he helped put us on the culinary map and shortly after he joined us, opened for brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. Kevin moved on to open his own place and since his departure, our chefs have contributed significantly to our reputation for good quality cuisine.

Our menu stays consistent with quality and price with something for everyone to eat. Don’t miss our Meatloaf Monday’s, one of the best deals in Hudson.

Every Christmas we completely decorate the restaurant with creative themes from “Winter Wonderland” to “The Russian Tea Room”, something we love doing and that has found an international reputation. Winterwalk and Flag Day are citywide celebrations, so we are pleased to complement those events.

We love our space and hope you do too! Pull up a chair to the bar or grab a table. All are welcome and we’d love to see you!
