What do you do, and what makes it unique?
I am a florist and female small business owner. The quirky combination of flowers and sauerkraut was passed down from the store’s original owners- the wife was the florist and her husband was a kraut maker. It was my favorite store in Hudson for years before fate allowed me to become the new owner! When I bought the business a few years ago, I couldn’t possibly imagine changing such a unique concept.
What brought you to Hudson, and how long have you been here?
In my previous life, I worked for an older woman who owned many properties up here and she would let me photograph in her various spaces. I’ve actually been coming to Hudson for over 15 years. I permanently moved here about five years ago.

What’s it like being a part of Hudson’s business community?
This is my first time as a business owner and it’s been so wonderful. The Hudson Business Coalition has been so helpful, especially during the last year. I’ve also fallen in love with my neighboring business owners. There isn’t any shortage of strong women in this town!
What makes Hudson a unique place to visit?
Who doesn’t love a good “walking town?” Honestly, you can take the most beautiful Amtrak train ride from NYC and pop out in the cutest place ever. There are some excellent Hudson hotels and inns to stay at that also serve top notch food.
What’s your favorite Hudson event?
Well…it’s a toss up between the big two! Winter Walk and Flag Day. On the day of these celebrations, there’s a mix of locals, born and raised here, along with new comers and tourists. I like to see everyone co-mingling.
What’s your idea of a perfect weekend in and around Hudson?
I’d start with brunch at Rivertown and walk down Warren St., stopping at any shop that caught my fancy. I tend to keep to one side all the way down to the waterfront, and then do the other side on the way back. That way I don’t miss a thing. I love to get food to go from Cascades or the Yummy Kitchen food truck and eat at the waterfront park. Also, Olana and Art Omi are not to be missed!
