We had the privilege of sitting in on rehearsal at 3Academy Recording Studios, just across the river in nearby Catskill, as instrumental trio The Rough Shapes prepared for their Saturday, July 10 show at Park Theater in Hudson, NY. We interviewed Rough Shapes frontman Jeff Kadlic, and learned about his recording process during quarantine, his movie score influences, and how he got started building custom guitars for the likes of Jimmy Fallon. Enjoy the interview, as well as a few select moments from band practice.
Kadlic and his Rough Shapes bandmates Colin Almquist (bass) and Dan Cartwright (drums) play at Park Theater Hudson’s upcoming ‘Second Saturday Sessions’ on Saturday, July 10, starting at 7pm. The show is free and is being held outdoors at 723 Warren St. in Hudson, NY. Find The Rough Shapes online, and on Spotify and Bandcamp.
